Agentic AI Requires A New OS ("AOS")

Four years ago we wrote the article “Artificial Intelligence Is Electricity 2.0”. Therefore, if AI will indeed be everywhere, which companies will benefit most?
First, I wish to narrow the discussion to Generative AI and more specifically Agentic AI since the subject seems to be top of mind with readers.
Software Developers will benefit most from Agentic AI in the immediate term.
My view continues to be that the initial beneficiaries of Agentic AI will be Technology companies, more specifically those that generate an abundance of software code. Think Google (GOOG), Microsoft (MSFT), AWS (AMZN), Meta Platforms (META), Oracle (ORCL), SAP (SAP), Payments firms (particularly on the fraud detection side), Software Development & Software Tools companies (TEAM for example) and Enterprise Software companies in general.
Today Agentic AI enables software developers to automate portions of the software development process. Tomorrow, Agentic AI will enable companies to automate discreet tasks that roll up into larger processes and eventually full systems without continuous prompting.
Digital systems will be easiest to automate as bits and bytes are easier to automate than physical objects and manual processes. Two present day, real-world examples are equities trading and automated payments.

Agentic AI will require a new Operating System (OS). Think about it. When working on a transaction you engage with multiple parties. To automate the full transaction which may include multiple third parties, there eventually must be an OS that is capable of engaging with multiple models from multiple vendors in conjunction with analog processes and various other systems. Whomever builds that OS - the connective tissue for AI - will generate superior economics. The model builders ought to lead the Agentic OS (“AOS”) charge.
