Anthropic Continues To Throttle Usage
After spending a number of hours over the past couple of days with Anthropic Opus 4.5 (free and premium) versus Gemini 3.0 Deep Think (free and premium), Google Gemini gives me 2-3x the usage as does Anthropic. Anthropic is still heavily throttling usage, even on the premium tier. My estimation is that the free version of Gemini 3.0 Deep Think provides as much usage as Anthropic’s $20/month tier.
I am not sure how Anthropic will win the day if its only decent usage tier is $249/month. It is not as though that price tier is superior in capability to Gemini’s $125/month tier.
How will Anthropic ever do image and video analysis as well as Gemini given that Google owns Google Photos and YouTube, Nano Banana and NotebookLM? Gemini is already there with Claude Opus on the coding side, which is Anthropic’s bread and butter.
The walls are closing in on Anthropic. I feel the same way about OpenAI, only difference being that OpenAI is better capitalized than Anthropic.
