August Jobs Data Was Weak Across Tech
We do not pay much attention to Government jobs data releases other than to get a read on where the Government reported numbers vary from our observations. If you want a good, quick snapshot of Tech jobs / layoffs, we recommend reviewing the data published by Layoff.fyi. We do not have a partnership with the firm and only mention the service because we enjoy using it.
Per Layoff.fyi, August was a busy layoff month with 26,024 employees laid off. This is a level that was last reached in January 2024 when 34,107 employees were laid off and compares to 9,051 employees laid off in July.
