Automobile Quality Is The Problem at Stellantis (STLA)
The auto press is blaming former Stellantis ( STLA 0.00%↑ ) CEO Carlos Tavares’ auto dealership relations for his ouster last night. However, the root cause of Stellantis’ problems is that it builds crap, unibody-constructed automobiles with over-tweaked engines (small block, low-valve count engines augmented with turbos which cause undue stress over time), at too high a price.
Stellantis after all is the old Fiat merged with post-Daimler Chrysler. This Frankensteined auto company is hardly the source of quality craftsmanship that was post World War II Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep.
Making automobiles in western Europe given labor costs, employee law (try firing auto workers in Germany) and a devalued currency is a losing proposition.
