AutoZone (AZO) ought to spinoff ALLDATA.
I made a high-level inquiry to AutoZone circa 2011 about acquiring the company and believe I could have got a deal done had I stayed at Solera another year or two. ALLDATA would bring more value to AZO if it were a separately-traded public company with its own management team and financial reporting. I believe it would be valued as a pure-play Enterprise Software / Info Services company. Thinking out loud, $180 million of EBITDA on $300 million of Revenue is worth what? Perhaps 30x EBITDA the way EBITDA is growing…
