By Talking Up Its OpenAI Partnership, Apple Is Devaluing the iPhone
If Apple’s forthcoming announcement with OpenAI is the most exciting thing about iOS and the iPhone, what does that say about the iPhone and phones in general?
With these media leaks about a forthcoming Apple, OpenAI partnership, it feels as though stodgy Apple is trying to catch some of the new kid’s shine.
That is the wrong way for Apple to position it. Apple ought to downplay the partnership. AAPL should allow the user experience to “wow” people and generate interest in iOS 18 and the iPhone through word of mouth.
Tim Cook needs to show more love to Apple’s chip and software teams by featuring the iPhone’s engineering in its promotional Ads rather than solely focusing on design language.
