ChatGPT's SDK Is Not for Me
OpenAI rolled out an SDK, its version of an App Store. To my understanding, OpenAI wants users to access watered-down, widget-styled versions of apps like CEORater inside the GPT chat. I don’t want CEORater users getting an experience on GPT that is inconsistent with the android and iOS versions of CEORater.
Perhaps the SDK will be fine for some apps, but I don’t want a watered-down, GPT-styled, widget version of CEORater floating around. GPT’s SDK efforts will homogenize and commoditize apps, where they become utilities within the GPT chat service, elevating the service, but not the app. Sure, you could argue that GPT will create exposure for the app, that it is a marketing tool for the app. However, on a net basis, the cons outweigh the pros in CEORater’s case.
