Gemini Advanced Will Be A Good Proxy for Gen AI Demand
Google’s GenAI platform - Gemini (formerly Bard) - is also being rolled out as a premium service - Gemini Advanced - which users may subscribe to for $19.99/month (the first two months are free). It will be fascinating to observe what kind of uptake Gemini Advanced will experience over the next 12 months. Gemini Advanced’s uptake ought to serve as a good proxy for the appetite users may have for advanced Gen AI capability.
Gemini Advanced uses a more sophisticated Gen AI model (“Ultra 1.0”), than does the free Gemini service. Gemini Advanced will soon be embedded into Gmail, Docs and other Google products including many of Google One’s services.
Gen AI is a strategic scale game and for that reason will be dominated by the largest Technology companies.
I believe that Google, AWS/Amazon and Microsoft/OpenAI will increasingly design their own AI chips.
Apple has missed the Gen AI boat.
