Google 2.0: Agentspace
Google Agentspace Answers Our "Who Will Build AI's Middleware Layer?" Question
Last month we wrote the article "Who Will Build AI's Middleware Layer?" The answer is Google - at least insofar as Google will attempt to do so - that is to create an open standard for AI Agents to communicate and work with one another.
Absent the connective tissue of a standardized operating layer, AI Agent utility will be extremely limited. It is only when AI Agents are capable of completing entire tasks on the user’s behalf that they begin to realize their potential.
Correctly positioning itself for an Agent-driven world is critical for Google, as AI Agents put Ad Revenue models at great risk (agents won’t have an emotional reaction nor response to Ads, they only care about executing the task at hand as efficiently as possible).
Agentspace will truly be Google’s second act beyond search. I signed up for an Agentspace trial, we’ll see how it compares to Manus AI. My view, as I wrote last week, is that Google ought to crush Manus.
