GPT4o vs. o1 Preview Model vs. o1 Model
The below charts have been floating around the Internet for a week or so (published by OpenAI), but I do not believe I have shared them with this audience: GPT4o versus o1 preview model versus o1 full model.
My view after researching everything I could get my hands on about OpenAI’s o1 model is that in the immediate term, Software companies (public and private) can capture Operating Leverage on the Software Development / R&D side if they deploy the o1 model at scale.
Enterprise Software companies are NOT going to fire 10% of their Developer workforce today, but developers can become more productive by handing a portion of their code writing and QA processes over to OpenAI’s o1 model.
I expect that the next versions of Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet LLM and Google’s Gemini LLM will achieve similar gains. It will be years however before we see Agentic AI that enables business users to write code with a natural language verbal or text command.
