I've Got Tim Cook's Back On This One
I am not in the habit of defending Apple or Tim Cook, but it is wrong for investors and the financial media to say that Apple does not have an “AI” play.
Sure, Apple does not have a Gen AI play as we have previously written, but to say that Apple does not leverage broadly-defined AI (machine learning, deep learning, neural networks, NLP, etc.) is incorrect. Another case of media talking heads and journalists conflating “Gen AI” - which is at the infrastructure build stage - with “artificial intelligence” and its various permutations.
In fact, one could argue that Apple moves more AI chips in a year with its various iPhone model sales than Nvidia does for use in LLMs.
With respect to Apple and Gen AI, it would make sense for Apple to heavily imbue Siri with Gen AI capability.
