Microsoft Copilot Pro - Show Me The Revenue
If Microsoft’s Gen AI effort is to be a success on the order of justifying MSFT’s share gains (up 87% since Dec 30th 2022), Copilot Pro ($20 per user per month) needs to be a success.
Microsoft began reporting Copilot Pro subscribers beginning with its March 2024 quarter. Copilot Pro subscribers are included in the “Microsoft 365 Consumer subscribers” reported figure of 80.8 million. (see the table and chart below).
How many Copilot Pro subscribers did MSFT add in the March quarter? It is unclear as MSFT does not break out Copilot Pro subscribers. However, Copilot Pro subscribers did not appear to move the needle in the March quarter as the number of subscribers did not grow out of the ordinary at 3% sequentially. (Recall that for every incremental 1,000,000 Copilot Pro subscribers, MSFT adds approximately $240 million of annual revenue).
