Microsoft Does Not Know Sh** About Gen AI
Sure, Microsoft has machine learning capability baked into Azure much like Amazon bakes it into AWS and the way Google - the real AI leader - bakes it into Google Cloud. Yet, all of the recent AI hype is around Gen AI. What Gen AI play does Microsoft have outside of embedding OpenAI’s large language models (LLMs) into Microsoft Copilot? Nothing. MSFT has not invented Gen AI IP.
Satya Nadella is a master promotor - not an innovator. Microsoft has not developed anything insofar as Gen AI is concerned. Everything MSFT does around Gen AI is powered by OpenAI’s LLMs which are powered by NVIDIA’s chips. Google by the way designs its own “AI” chips (and uses NVIDIA). Ditto for AWS.
The best “AI” minds are not inside of Microsoft. The best AI professionals innovate inside of Google’s Deepmind, OpenAI, Inflection AI, Mistral AI, Anthropic and Renaissance Technologies to name a few examples.
Satya Nadella is a master of smoke and mirrors. My view is that Microsoft embeds Copilot into everything, raises prices (see HERE), then Nadella gets on the earnings call and says that “AI” is driving Revenue growth. Bullshit.
