NVIDIA (NVDA) Just Killed Groq
Groq founder and CEO Jonathan Ross (Ross was a founding member of Google’s TPU effort), agreed to join NVIDIA (NVDA) as part of a non-exclusive license deal.
Weird deal. I’ve never seen such a deal whereby a founding CEO leaves the company he founded to join a competitor while the company he founded will continue to operate as an independent company. I would love to know the terms of the deal.
There had to have been internal disagreement inside of Groq. In watching Ross’s interviews over the past several years, he comes across as a prickly sort of personality, not one that employees would run through a wall for.
Perhaps NVIDIA will acquire Groq once the latter loses value and customers. To be sure, Groq will lose value and customers as part of this whacky deal.
