If you missed Sam Altman last night, here is the interview. I am of the belief that model performance is not progressing at the same pace as two years ago, therefore OpenAI is putting more effort into building out the application layer of the stack.
It will be difficult for OpenAI to continue to push on the horizontal end of the spectrum with the Consumer, and simultaneously build out industry verticals and domain-specific functionality for Enterprise customers.
My view is focus on the Consumer and, to the extent you want to push on the Enterprise, do it at the API layer as opposed to working to productize the effort, which can get awfully expensive quickly. I believe the credit markets will impose discipline on OpenAI.
