PPI Is Flat, Yet Food Is Higher
While PPI was flat for the month of November, the fact that food prices continued to climb weighs on most Americans. Elevated food prices will continue to crowd out spending on discretionary items. Eggs for example were up 71% month-to-month in November. Fresh fruits 18%, vegetables 11% month-to-month. These are not small numbers.
