S&P 500: Most Cost-Efficient CEOs
“CompScore” is one of the metrics we publish on CEORater.
CompScore is a CEO efficiency metric.
CompScore is CEORater’s proprietary letter-grade rating (A-F, Highest-Lowest), of a CEO’s compensation efficiency.
CompScore measures a CEO’s total compensation cost per unit of Average Annual Total Stock Return generated during the CEO’s tenure. The lower the total compensation cost per unit of return, the higher the CompScore.
CEORater calculates CompScore for all S&P 500 CEOs. Below is a sample as of end-of-day Friday January 16th 2026. The highlighted column details CEO compensation cost per unit of average annual TSR generated, while CompScore is the lettered column 4 columns to the left. See more at CEORater.
