The OpenSource AI Threat Is Here To Stay
A potential DeepSeek ban does not remove the opensource large language model threat. Valuations for proprietary model builders (OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral, Cohere, Google) and beneficiaries (Microsoft, Oracle and others) need to come in.
The near-to-intermediate-term play for Software companies is to leverage AI agents to write and QC blocks of code. Perhaps this Agentic AI automation effort will scale into something meaningful in the next few years as it relates to Software Development. However, I feel this hand is being overplayed by the hype-master CEOs leading OpenAI and Microsoft in particular.
