U.S. Dollar vs. Gold (1970-2025)
For all of the talk in Washington D.C., the simple truth is that Government deficit spending devalues the USD. The more debt the U.S. Treasury issues, the more money the Federal Reserve authorizes for banks to print to subsidize U.S. Debt (and to support our silly fractional reserve lending system), the more the U.S. Dollar will be devalued.
We created an interactive chart that benchmarks the USD versus Gold. Today, a single Dollar can buy only 1.2% of the Gold it could buy in 1970!
