Will Vision Pro Save Apple?
Apple’s immersive mixed reality Vision Pro headset will be available for purchase on February 2nd at a cost of $3,499 up front or for $291.58/month for 12 months. There are a number of consumer and commercial use cases across Productivity and Entertainment. I suspect that many early adopters will be Gamers and people that are heavy consumers and producers of video content. It is easy to imagine use cases across product design, content production, medical applications, architectural design, structural engineering, home buying, you name it, the use cases are abundant.
In terms of Vision Pro’s uptake, your guess is as good as any. The below table shows Vision Pro revenue at the $3,499 price point across various unit sales levels. 1,000,000 units sold over the first few months seems quite attainable. For perspective, $3.5 billion of revenue (at 1,000,000 units sold), equals approximately 4% of Apple’s quarterly revenue.
We have included Apple’s Vision Pro product demo video below. You may judge the experience for yourself.
Apple reports Thursday at 5:00pm ET: HERE. We expect Product Revenue to continue to shrink on a year-over-year basis when AAPL reports December Quarter results. Perhaps Vision Pro will change Apple’s Product fortunes for the better.
The Vision Pro’s launch is reason enough for Apple to acquire original content. Disney (DIS) and Warner Brothers Discovery (WBD) both fit the bill. However, I am not Apple CEO Tim Cook and I’ve yet to come across a CEO with less of a sense of urgency than Mr. Cook.
