RMSSD (Recovery Quality)

The Feb 7 session is meaningfully better. Mean RMSSD of 19.8 ms vs. 17.3 ms, with a peak of 34.6 ms vs. 30.8 ms. Higher RMSSD = stronger parasympathetic tone = better recovery and sleep quality that night.

Low Frequency Power

Both sessions show volatile LF power with big spikes, but Feb 7 is dramatically more extreme — peak of 8,156 ms² vs. 2,315 ms² on Dec 19. LF power is often associated with sympathetic-parasympathetic balance; large spikes can reflect autonomic state transitions (e.g., moving between sleep stages). The Feb 7 session has more pronounced stage transitions.

High Frequency Power

HF power (pure parasympathetic / vagal activity) is also higher on Feb 7 — mean 92 ms² vs. 62 ms², peak 248 ms² vs. 197 ms². That’s a consistent signal: autonomic regulation was stronger and more active that night.

Bottom line:

Feb 7 was the better sleep session by every HRV metric. Dec 19 shows lower overall vagal tone and a flatter, more compressed HRV profile — typical of a night where the body didn’t fully downregulate.
